Let’s start with the basics shall we?
- Who is this guy?
- Why should I listen to him?
- Should I even follow his journey?
NUMBA ONE: I will call myself “The Frugal North”. I am a twenty-nine year old Actuary (What’s that?*) living in the Great White North. Up until a short while ago, I was living the “average” life. That is, spending too much of my hard earned coin. Being an Actuary, I always had a love for numbers and compounding clams. However, it was only about fifteen months ago that I…
NUMBA TWO: …found frugality and the FIRE community. What an eye opener it was to educate myself on living rationally. In short, I am in the process of adjusting course. I think a lot of people are interested in learning about controlling their spending but may not know where or how to start. I’m here to document my journey and hopefully use some of my Actuarial skills to actuate some change.
NUMBA THREE: I’d say you may wish to follow if you are interested in early retirement, living a more environmentally conscious life and throwing a wrench in the spokes of consumerism every once in awhile. Straying from the herd of “average” is no easy feat as most of us are surrounded DAILY by people going through the motions. If you’re interested in purposely stashing cash to get out of the corporate drone lifestyle ahead of schedule, or just looking for more financial security, this may be the blog for you!
*What the $@&! is an Actuary? Someone who examines dead bodies? Not exactly…Actuaries deal with identifying, quantifying, and handling risk. More on the subject can be found on the trusty old Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actuary
